Grand Canyon, here I come

Yep. The Grand Canyon.

I'm so freaking excited!!

It also happens to be National Park week April 15-23 so that is an added bonus.

To be honest, this trip sort of fell in my lap. I have to be in Las Vegas for work and my best friend lives in Oakland, so it was kind of perfect. She will meet me in Vegas and we will make the 4+ hour drive to one of the coolest places in this country!

On the first night we'll be staying in this cute little bunk house about an hour from the park. Middle of nowhere Arizona at it's finest and it even has a star gazing tower! Don't you just love AirBnb? Situated between the woodlands and the Juniper Mountains, the views are supposed to be spectacular! Then on the second night we'll be staying in the park at the Yavapai Lodge for easy access.

I'm pretty much a nerd when it comes to this kind of stuff, so I've been doing a ton of research and I spent way too much time in REI and on Amazon making sure I have everything I need. I decided to bring both my Keen Voyagers and my Brooks Cascadia trail runners, plus my cheapo trekking poles I snagged on Amazon and my REI Flash 18 daypack with my hydro bladder of course.

We'll be sunrise and sunset chasing and we plan to hike the South Kaibab Trail to Skeleton Point which is a 6 mile round trip hike. This trail is supposed to have some of the most scenic views, one of which is the Ooh-Aah point... need they say more?

Excited is an understatement!

I'll be posting our adventure on Instagram Stories and Facebook Live during my trip April 14-16, so make sure you tune it!

Have you been to the Grand Canyon? Tell me your favorite part that I must see!
